Terms of Service

The agreement between you and KanunSetu when you use our platform.

Last updated: 23 April 2026

1. Who these terms apply to

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("User", "you") andKaasho Pvt Ltd ("KanunSetu", "we", "our"), the operator of the website and related services at kanunsetu.com. By creating an account or otherwise using the platform, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not accept them, please do not use the platform.

2. What KanunSetu does (and does not do)

KanunSetu is an online marketplace that introduces users toindependent advocates who are enrolled with their respective State Bar Councils under the Advocates Act, 1961. We provide the technology (search, scheduling, secure chat / audio / video, payment processing, document storage, payout management) that powers each consultation.

We are not a law firm. We do not:

  • provide legal advice ourselves;
  • represent you in any forum or court;
  • guarantee the outcome of any consultation, case, or matter;
  • endorse or vouch for the legal opinions given by individual advocates listed on the platform.

The advocate-client relationship is between you and the advocate you book. Any legal advice you receive is from that advocate, in their professional capacity.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding contract under Indian law to use the platform. By registering, you confirm that:

  • The information you provide is true, accurate, and current.
  • You will keep your account credentials confidential and not share them with anyone.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Advocates additionally confirm that they are validly enrolled with a State Bar Council and have not been suspended or struck off.

4. Account registration and authentication

You may register using email + password (with phone OTP verification), mobile OTP, or Google sign-in. Phone-number changes always require an OTP sent to the new number; email changes require an OTP sent to the new address.

We may suspend or terminate any account for violation of these Terms, suspected fraudulent activity, or non-payment. Suspended accounts cannot log in via any method until the issue is resolved.

5. Bookings and consultations

  • You may book a consultation by selecting an advocate, choosing an available slot, and paying the displayed amount.
  • A slot is held for you for 15 minutes after selection while you complete checkout. After this window, the slot returns to availability.
  • Slots remain bookable until 30 minutes after the scheduled start time, to accommodate last-minute bookings.
  • The consultation will take place over chat, audio, or video as selected — using the secure tools provided on the platform. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service; both parties accept the limitations of internet-based communication.
  • Both you and the advocate are expected to join punctually. A confirmed booking whose scheduled time has passed without being marked complete is labelled Missed.

6. Fees, taxes, and payments

  • The consultation fee is set by each advocate and shown on their profile and at checkout.
  • KanunSetu adds a fixed platform booking fee per session (currently ₹50), shown separately at checkout. This fee is non-refundable.
  • All applicable indirect taxes (GST) will be added where required by law.
  • Payments are processed by Razorpay. By paying, you authorise Razorpay to charge your selected payment instrument.
  • KanunSetu retains a commission of 15% from the advocate's consultation fee. The balance is paid out to the advocate after the consultation completes and the payout is reviewed.

7. Cancellations and refunds

  • You may cancel a booking from your "My Bookings" page.
  • Cancellations made 6 or more hours before the scheduled slot trigger an automatic refund of the consultation fee (the platform booking fee is non-refundable).
  • Cancellations made within 6 hours of the slot are not eligible for an automatic refund. Discretionary refunds may be considered for genuine emergencies — write to support@kanunsetu.com with the booking ID.
  • Refunds are initiated automatically through Razorpay and typically credited to the original payment method within 5-7 business days.
  • If neither party joins the consultation and it is marked Missed, refund eligibility is determined case by case based on platform logs.

8. Advocate verification

9. Reviews

You may submit a 1-5 star rating and a written review after a consultation completes. Reviews must be honest, factual, and based on your own experience. We may remove reviews that contain personal attacks, defamatory content, confidential information disclosed by the advocate, or material that violates Indian law. We do not pay for or otherwise solicit positive reviews.
